Intro
Look at that! It’s another (seemingly rare) issue of sequential variants! For those of you thinking:
jeez, this is getting annoying…
I did warn you in previous issues (that you likely didn’t read) and that button over in the header lets you uncheck sequential variants so you never have to read about comic releases. Ever. Again.
Now on with the show.

This Weeks Releases
Creepshow (Image) #1
This is the second go-around for Creepshow, based on the Shudder show, at Image/Skybound. They did a five issue anthology mini-series last year and it looks like they are doing it all again continuing with new creative teams for each issue. This issue features a story from Garth Ennis (Preacher, The Boys) with art by Becky Cloonan (Batgirls, Wonder Woman) and a back-up from the excellent Phil Hester (Gotham City: Year One, Family Tree).
Coda (Boom) #1
Another second volume, this time with Coda, which follows the 2018-2019 series from Si Spurrier. I fell off the first volume, but this might give me the kick to catch up. Spurrier is truly one of the most creative, bombastic writers in comics right now.
The Cull (Image) #2
I adored issue one. So much. This issue slow plays things a bit and didn’t hit me quite as hard, but I’m still really excited to see where the story goes. And of course, the art is truly magical.
Damn Them All (Boom) #8
More Si Spurrier. If you aren’t reading this, this probably isn’t the place to jump in. But it’s a fun British magical world comic.
Dark Ride (Image) #8
House of Slaughter (Boom) #17
I Hate Fairyland (Image) #9
The Enfield Gang Massacre (Image) #2

Big Two
Disclaimer: I read both DC and Marvel on a delay through their subscription apps, so I’m always behind, but these are the new releases that look good.
DC
Batman and Robin #1
New B&R from Joshua Williamson, who seems to basically be running things over at DC, but he did have a great run on Robin. Simone Di Meo brings his very flashy, artsy style from the covers of Robin and interiors of We Only Find Them When They’re Dead to the interiors here so I’m expecting a pretty big splash with this book overall.
Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #1
A new DC Black Label book from writer/artist Rafael Grampa. Black Label is probably the single best thing about Big Two comics right now. They give the creators so much leeway to just do their thing with the characters and truly have fun with it in new and unique ways. I expect nothing less from Grampa here.
Batman/Catwoman: Prelude to Gotham War #1
Batman Incorporated #12
Danger Street #9
Green Lantern #3
Marvel
Alligator Loki #1
I mean… it’s Alligator Loki…
Avengers Inc. #1
Al Ewing writing a spy/mystery Avengers book…? Yeah, why not?
Daredevil #1
Big shoes to fill picking up the baton from the long Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto run. Curious to see where Saladin Ahmed and Aaron Kuder go with it.
The Incredible Hulk #4
Nic Klein has been doing some really great art on this book, which is the first book I’ve really given a chance from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson. Travel Foreman (Animal Man) actually takes over art duties for this issue and the next. Can’t wait to see what he can bring to this monster focused Hulk story.
Children of the Vault #2
X-Force #44
X-Men: Red #15
Venom #25
Lastly
Feels like DC could of done a better job of balancing out all the Batman releases, but what are you going to do…? At this point, I’m so far behind in all my reading: books, newsletters, magazines, blogs, short stories, and comics… so I’m probably not the best person to be directing and recommending comics right now, but that’s still not going to stop me.
We’ve got some exciting weeks in comics coming so stick around, won’t you?
Stay sane,
