All the TV That’s Fit to Stream
Welcome back to streaming variability, a newsletter all about tv and what’s worth watching written by some random idiot on the internet!
Quick Thoughts
What a weekend of tv!
Both Succession and Barry delivered great finales. I don’t think they’ll make the pantheon of greatest finales or anything like that, but both had some amazing moments and delivered endings that suited the series’. What else can we ask for?
And while I haven’t written too much about it Love & Death (Max) was also pretty great. It’s a little weird to call a 7 episode mini-series a slow burn, but that’s exactly what it was, and it was executed at a very high level. The production design was pitch perfect, but in the end it all comes down to Elizabeth Olsen, who was amazing in this series based on a true story. And although I never saw Hulu’s version, Candy, starring Jessica Biel and Melanie Lynskey, which came out last year, based on the trailer alone, I can tell you Love & Death is probably 7 times better… at least.
White House Plumbers (also on Max) wrapped up last night and was solid. The finale ultimately felt a bit scattershot, but the series as a whole was pretty wild, especially Justin Theroux’s performance. Ted Lasso will also be coming to an end this week and while they’ve never found the spark that made season one so special, I continue to find it to be comfort food for me and will miss it dearly.
New Stuff
I Think You Should Leave S3 (Netflix) — May 30
Sketch comedy has never really been up my alley, but this is one of the weirdest and quirkiest shows I’ve ever seen. Tim Robinson just has some truly baffling energy to him that makes it hard to take your eyes off the screen. Very happy to get season three and the accompanying @ithinkyoushouldpeaks memes that will come from it.
The Idol S1 (Max) — June 4
Well, if you are a fan of Euphoria you probably have an idea of what you’ll be getting here. I’ve never watched anything from Sam Levinson, but this is his new show created with and starring The Weeknd alongside Lily-Rose Depp. So… the names are there… will it live up to the names and hype..? Who knows. I’ll give it a shot though and hopefully find myself pleasantly surprised.
Painting with John S3 (Max) — June 2
The main event! Honestly, I never finished season two, but I’m still excited for this. I recently purchased John Lurie’s audiobook and have been trying to find some time to listen to it (currently failing pretty badly). The Weird John Streaming Universe is something that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Lastly
I’m already late getting this out due to the holiday weekend, the NBA playoffs, and a panic attack, so this will have to do.
As always, stay sane.
