i donât need a whole lots of money - i donât need a big, fine car
Welcome back to streaming variability, a newsletter all about tv and whatâs worth watching written by some random idiot on the internet!
Going to keep it light on the words this week and just get straight into the new stuff and whatâs on The Schedule for the week. Iâm trying to find the best way to pack the most utility into this newsletter without wasting your time so Iâd love to hear what parts of this newsletter you find the most useful: The Schedule, New Stuff, trailers for upcoming shows, commentary on current shows, reviews of wrapped shows, etc. And when it comes to things like trailers (or general news) do you prefer to see them as soon as they are released or at the beginning of the week when the show is actually being released?
Also worth mentioning that both Liason (Apple) and Party Down (Starz) wrap up their short seasons this Friday. Party Down has been pretty fun, but it doesnât feel like something that can really land with gusto as a 30min show with only six episodes⌠but still happy we got it.
New Stuff
The Big Door Prize
Really looking forward to this one. High, high hopes.
The Power
Looks like it could get a little whiny/preachy, but will still be giving this a shot at some point when I have time.
Unstable
Probably wonât be watching myself, but felt worth mentioningâŚ
Royal Crackers
I like a good dose of just pure stupidity in my animation from time to time and thatâs exactly what this appears to be. I watched China, IL awhile back and while itâs not something I could ever recommend, I found myself enjoying it quite a bit. This could be another one of those.
Tetris (Movie)
Donât usually talk about movies much around here, but this looks like it could be pretty solid.
Quick Reviews
Going to hold off a couple weeks before diving too deep into Yellowjackets and Succession, but figured Iâd mention I caught the first episode of Digman! this past weekend. Not sure Digman! is something Iâd normally stick with. It feels like a pretty average Cartoon Network style cartoon with some lightly adult comedy⌠My wife seemed to really enjoy it though even though itâs usually pulling teeth to get her to watch anything animated so we will be keeping it on the schedule for the time being.
