what if the new format was no format at all

Quick Thoughts
Last night’s Succession episode was… amazing. Besides the actual plot/story that took place, the performances were incredible and the shots they were getting just put you in the moment in spectacular fashion. If it weren’t for E3 of The Last of Us, this would probably be the best single episode of the year.
Beef has been just as good as expected two episodes in. I can’t wait to dive into it more this week Everything about it is so great. It’s visceral and hilarious and the lead performances of Ali Wong and Steven Yeun are obviously terrific. If you haven’t checked this out yet, you should pop into Netflix asap.
Last week’s Perry Mason finally got the engines revving. It was a bit cold for me through the first couple, but I’m all the way back in and excited for tonight as the focus/mystery has shifted a bit.
After last week I decided to kill Rain Dogs from The Schedule… I knew episode four was going to be a bit of a bottle episode out in the country, but I just couldn’t take it and have no interest in delving into those relationships anymore…
I missed intro’ing Dave S3 last week. I’m so far behind on this show that I don’t have much to say, but everyone only says positive things and he was on The Town last week, which was worth listening to as well. I promise to do my best to rectify this travesty on my part.
New Stuff
Barry (HBO) S4 - Final Season
One of our most anticipated shows of the year is finally here. No idea where they are going to take this fourth and final season, but I’m all-in on Hader, as writer, director, and performer, at this point. Surprised they are kicking off with two episodes Sunday.
Florida Man (Netflix) S1
Almost skipped over this, but trailer looks like there might be enough there, there.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon) S5 - Final Season
Last season. I know a lot of people shit on this, but I quite enjoy Rachel Brosnahan as Midge (plus Tony Shalhoub as Abe and Luke Kirby as Lenny Bruce are both great as well). So I’m still looking forward to the final hurrah.
The Last Thing He Told Me (Apple) S1
Based on the trailer, this looks like it’s going to be one of those over-dramatized type shows, but I figured Apple has been doing enough right that it’s worth at least giving an episode a try to see if the trailer is just giving the wrong vibe.
Waco: The Aftermath (Showtime) S1
I wasn’t planing on actually checking this one out until I saw Michael Shannon was in it and he’s one of my favorite actors working right now (and pretty underrated, imo).
